Every story begins somewhere.
Sometimes with a memory. Sometimes with a question. Sometimes with a forgotten object discovered decades after it was first set aside.
The Broken Seal began with a small Kodak parcel posted during the war years and left unopened for generations. Inside were photographs, fragments of lives, and hints of journeys that crossed oceans and continents. The story they tell is still unfolding.
As with all my books, the destination is not yet fully known. Research continues, family histories emerge, and unexpected connections appear where least expected. What begins as a simple discovery may become a story of love, loss, separation, and the long shadows cast by war.
For now, The Broken Seal remains a work in progress.
This page will follow that journey from first discovery to finished novel, sharing occasional notes, photographs, research findings, and glimpses into the writing process.
Some stories are written from imagination.
Others begin with something real.
This one begins with a broken seal.
